Job Summary:

Incumbents in this role shall control airport operations in accordance with the rules of the FAA and the policies and regulations of the Airport Authority to ensure safety and efficient operation. Responsibilities include controlling and maintaining communications equipment, responding to airfield and terminal emergencies, and responding to tenant requests and grievances.

Responsibilities:

Assist the control tower chief in the conduct of the local annual Runway Safety Action Team (RSAT) meetings.
Based on the outcome, initiate and implement strategies, policies and/or procedures to reduce the potential of runway incursions.
Compliance checks with County Height Limitation Zoning Ordinance (HLZO).
Coordinate with City Counsel and Parks & Land Use Planning and Zoning Division to mitigate non-compliant objects.
Reviews of the design of the region and reacts to cases that are inconsistent with airport operations.
Participates in the development and analysis of the airport strategic plan, provides reports, participates in training sessions and workgroup meetings. Prepares and distributes the NOTAM.
Responses to requests for information.
Perform the requests for information and surveys required as part of the State and Federal Grant guarantees.
Assistance in ensuring that private tenants and service providers are in compliance with the terms of contracts, operating agreements and minimum standards.
Conducts hangar inspections as directed.
Assist the control tower manager in ensuring that the control tower equipment and facilities comply with the requirements of the Contract Tower Program prior to the annual inspection.
Conducts general maintenance on the field including, but not limited to, weeding, chemical application and painting.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management, Aeronautical Administration or related fields.
Four (4) years of full-time experience in aviation administration.
Must be familiar with airport operations, communication systems, safety procedures and FAA regulations or equal combination of schooling, training and experience.
Must have a valid driver's license at the time of the submission of the request and be able to submit it at the time of the oral interview.
Applicants who do not have a driver's license will be required to submit a Driving Record Check from their State Department of Motor Vehicles.
Documentation of academic qualifications must be submitted at the time of the oral interview.
Positions require rotating, weekend and holiday duties, mandatory overtime and a 24-hour snow call.
