- Attend all management meetings as approved by the Administrator.
- Attend meetings of the Quality Improvement Committee and play an active role in the decision-making process of those committees.
- Take part in quarterly Infection Control meetings. Be a resource for all members of the Surgical Arts Center.
- Conduct monthly inventories of all drugs.
- Order medications and supplies as needed before the expiration date.
- Ensuring materials and medications that are about to expire are first used to prevent unnecessary waste.
- Provide the Director with a briefing at a monthly meeting.
- Take part in the successful training of surgeons.
- Participate in any community-based facility activities.
- Be a mentor to any nurse working at the unit.
- Maintain an open door policy for workers.
- Notify the Director of any disciplinary issues related to the nursing unit.
- Must abide by state and federal rules on anesthesiology licensure.
- Adhere to the policies and procedures of the facility.
- Got to be PALS, and BLS certified.
- If not certified, the student will register for the class within 14 days (2 weeks) of hiring.
- Certification and licensing fees are the responsibility of the worker, as are renewal fees.
- You will be free to educate the patient before starting treatment at any potential risk that our Registered Nurse can assist in the induction process of anesthesia (i.e. maintaining patient safety, calming the parent, helping the parent remove the child's arms or legs to avoid physical harm).
- Apply to all monitors, including ECG, SpO2 and BP.
- Connect peripheral IV and begin IV fluid administration.
- Intubation assistance as directed by Anesthesia.
- Secure the patient to the OR table for safety, maintaining circulation to all extremities, as appropriate.
- Placing the patient's blankets for temperature control.
- Ensure that the Lead Apron is correctly located if any dentalx-rays are to be taken.
- Once the surgery is completed, the RN will immediately assist the anesthesiologist by removing all the monitors and preparing the child for transport to the PACU.
- The RN will accompany the patient and the anesthesiologist during transport–OR–to the PACU when the patient arrives. The RN will immediately provide oxygen to the patient, and obtain vital signs. These will be the first set of vital signs recorded in PACU.
- Vital signs will be taken as per procedure, and doctor's instructions will be made.
- IV and other problematic tubes / lines will be removed as soon as possible, without risking the health of the patient, so that the patient can wake up comfortably. Lines, tubes, and monitoring equipment will always be left to any patient, regardless of neurological status, until such time as the patient is physically stable.
- Clean the patient's face and suction as needed to make the patient look presentable when the parents arrive at the PACU. The RN will determine the parent / S.O. You may meet the patient.
- Both nursing care and patient status will be clarified to the parent / guardian in such a way that they can appreciate it. Any unintentional damages (such as lip abrasions, etc.) will be immediately reported to the parent.
- The RN must discuss the home care guidelines with the parent / guardian.
- Report any actions that have been taken in the medical record.
- The RN will follow the patient to the lobby or to their car.
- Promote the health and hygiene of patients, visitors and colleagues.
- Attend the mandatory staff meetings and participate in the functions of the facility.
- Keep all necessary certifications and licenses up to date.
Qualifications:
- Degree from the accredited College of Medicine ECFMG and FLEX
- Completion of the approved Residency in Anesthesia.
- Board Certified / Eligible Board Anesthesiologist required for the Ambulatory Surgical Center offering family planning and birth control services.
- Licensed and are certified by AAAHC (similar to JCAHO).
- Anesthesiologists will be required to provide MAC anesthesia and general D&C anesthesia, legal termination of pregnancy procedures, LEEP, tubal sterilization, vasectomy and other surgical services.
