Animal Breeder

Job Summary:

The Animal Breeder reports directly to Technician Team Leader and works as a key member of company.

Responsibilities:

Develop, implement and oversee effective animal breeding, reproductive and related animal health programs.
Evaluate the animal breeding needs of clients through established professional animal reproduction protocols such as animal care, artificial insemination, and heat synchronization, among others.
Boost the genetic makeup and reproductive health of dairy animals.
Effectively enforce and ensure compliance with procedures, services and guidelines
Follow on-farm procedures as specified by each individual technician.
Provide for the safe, efficient and successful insemination of the herds of the customer.
Cooperate with farm management and other farm advisors (Vet, Nutritionist, etc.) to incorporate the Alta Genetics service offering into the overall farm management plan.
Help to locate, train and develop competent relief assistance.
Provide correct and timely reports to the Team Leader of Alta Genetics Technicians if specifically requested.
Provide timely responses to requests for information.
Create and maintain productive working relationships with internal and external customers through professional and respectful communication.
Continuously advance your expertise and demonstrate willingness to accept ongoing development activities.
Observe and follow all health and safety policies and procedures of the organization.

Qualifications:

University degree in veterinary medicine and/or zootechnical medicine.
Extensive course work of direct relevance to the above-mentioned position, including Genetics, Genetic Improvement, Bovine Clinic, Bovine Milk Production and other important technical courses.
Previous professional experience in the field of animal health and breeding.
