Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Field Operations Manager, the position shall be responsible for the apprehension and care of animals, the determination of the disposition of animals, the enforcement of various related national and local laws and regulations, the response to complaints concerning unwanted, escaped or other nuisance animals and other tasks as assigned.

Responsibilities:

Serve as a representative of CCSPCA, demonstrating a positive attitude and progressive action through the display of professionalism, courtesy, and appropriate tact and discretion in all interactions with other employees and the public.
Respond to calls, captures, transports, and impounds stray animals.
The plaintiff investigates and lists the owners of the animals.
Establishing quarantines to determine animal health can inflict serious injury or disease on animals and provide veterinary care.
Provide public assistance in matters of animal control; responds to inquiries and provides information on local animal control laws.
Capture and store dead animals for disposal.
Issue citations or notices of infringement in the enforcement of animal control ordinances.
Prepare documents for officers and maintain databases and records.
Maintain the safety and security of the Shelter.
Protect confidential information by preventing unauthorized release, both verbal and/or written.
Input call data and write reports to the Software System.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent degree.
Knowledge of techniques for effective oral communication, and through written expression, experience in providing information, such as explaining rules and regulations to the public, preferably in the handling, care and control of animals.

Read, recognize and clarify relevant federal and local laws, legislation and ordinances; gain support and enforcement from members of the community by working tactfully and effectively; assess the situation and take action; exercise tact and impartial judgment in communicating with the public; speak to a wide range of people; prepare straightforward and descriptive reports.
Show a positive public image; develop and maintain working relationships with co-workers, agencies and organizations; deal with ill, wounded, unsafe or dead animals and decompose animal carcasses in a healthy and humane manner; learn about the physical and behavioral characteristics of animals; learn how to classify breeds; learn and understand signs of rabies and other common animal diseases.
Learn how to handle animals in a healthy and accurate manner; euthanize unhealthy, ill or unwanted animals; make simple arithmetic calculations; understand and obey oral and written instructions; drive a vehicle safely; perform certain duties as assigned; and work independently.
An up-to-date record of tetanus shots is needed.
Driver license required without significant violations of the DMV record.
Must be in a position to pass a background / drug clearance.
Must have experience in Word, Excel, Powerpoint, email, and other computer programs such as Shelter Buddy, Petpoint, and/or pet databases.
