Job Summary:

Reporting to the Director, Research & Development, R&D Scientist II and Engineer II, Treat products will be responsible for the development of formula design projects for dog and cat therapies (biscuits, semi-meat, dizziness, etc.) as well as ensuring that all nutritional and quality requirements are met. It covers all new dry and semi-meat treatment formulation formula and manufacturing process development, renovation / optimization and continuous improvement programs, as well as improving the palatability and usability of all current treatments and methods (injection molding, extrusion, co-extrusion, cold pressing, dehydration).

Responsibilities:

Distribution against the business objectives of achieving individual and organizational objectives, while managing the commercialization of all new products from concept to post-production evaluation.
Create, execute and enforce all product development initiatives for dog and cat treatments (biscuits, semi-moist, suckling, etc.) to ensure food and efficiency.
Provide all manufacturing specifications and the necessary support for operations to ensure that products are tested for ongoing commercial production
Lead and help distributor and manufacturer line tests and studies for product development and HMM
Establishing and maintaining standards for raw ingredients to satisfy the company's stringent food safety requirements.
Marketing, legal and regulatory analysis of consumer claims to ensure that the required information is preserved to endorse product label enforcement requirements, feed recommendations, nutritional adequacy statements and marketing or promotional claims (food check, shelf life, microbial challenge test, etc.)
Identify and evaluate new technologies that enhance current products and/or create the best in class new products
Conduct efficacy research on new technologies under assessment Present technical data to external scientific, veterinary and business audiences
Develop, maintain and analyze competitive feed data Provide product support and troubleshooting formula for other teams (operations, marketing, etc.).

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in animal nutrition, food processing, food technology, food engineering or related fields Minimum 5 + years full time CPG work experience needed, 7 + years desired
Expertise in formula development, stability tests, palatability studies, and preparation of ingredients and finished product specifications
Professional in concept-5 and multi-step formulation software (PLM)
Working experience of manufacturing processes and procedures, including various forms of packaging, etc.
Hands on experience in working with external parties, including third party co-manufacturers, vendors, alliances, etc.
Experience with pilot plant testing and ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently Excellent interpersonal skills as well as verbal / written communication.
Master's in Animal Nutrition, Food Science, Food Technology, Food Engineering or Similar Field Experience with injection molding, extrusion, co-extrusion, cold pressing, dehydration Statistical Process Control (SPC) information and statistical resources is desirable.
