Job Summary:
Teaches core Anthropology classes. Responsible for the planning and instruction of classes in anthropology for the Social Sciences Program. This position reports directly to the Dean of Humanities, Social Sciences, Transitional Studies and Written and Oral Communications and works closely with the Chair and Faculty of the Social Sciences Program.
Responsibilities:
- Teaching introductory Anthropology courses as needed.
- Act as a team member of the Department of Social Sciences.
- Communicate the goals of each of the courses taught, rate according to those objectives, and report on student progress towards those objectives.
- Work effectively with students and staff of different cultural and socio-economic backgrounds and ages, and communicate positively with managers, colleagues and staff as part of the education team.
- Establish and retain incentives for sufficient out - of-class interaction with students.
- Prepare explanations of classes, sketches of courses and other information related to courses taught.
- Establish and maintain a classroom roll, and teach in accordance with theapproved co-worker.
- Participate in the Student Classroom Learning Appraisal.
Qualifications:

- Master's degree in anthropology and 27 graduate quarter-hours in anthropology or similar discipline.
- Ability to communicate effectively as an educator and to act as an active member of a team.
- Recommend teaching experience at a community college.
- Work in an office or classroom environment with minimal exposure to safety and health hazards.
- It takes enough visual acuity to identify alphanumeric characters.
- It requires good hearing and well-developed speaking ability to communicate with staff and students.
- Experience working with and teaching students of a wide variety of skill levels and experiences, interests and learning styles.
