Job Summary:
Participants with a strong interest in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) that will be committed to resolving a wide range of important problems in the field of missile defense. They will conduct aerodynamic and aerothermal CFD simulations related to subsonic, supersonic, and hypersonic missile configurations from launch to termination. And you will support the development of aerodynamic models and the testing of wind tunnels for the construction of new flight vehicles.

They will conduct aerodynamic and aerothermal CFD simulations related to subsonic, supersonic, and hypersonic missile configurations from launch to termination. And you will support the development of aerodynamic models and the testing of wind tunnels for the construction of new flight vehicles.
Responsibilities:
- Your primary responsibility will be to conduct applied computational analysis using commercial and in-house CFD technology to model aerodynamic and aerothermal missile flight conditions during launch, boost, mid-course and glide portions of missiles.
- You must create complex numerical grids to deal with large-scale problems involving comprehensive missile designs, their components and complex configurations.
- You will configure and adjust CAD models to be prepared for mesh generation You can compare the results of your predictions with flight test data and literature.
- Results will be reported in technical memoranda and papers; the conclusions will be discussed and expert advice will be given at technical integration meetings.
- You can control and operate CFD technology on high-performance computing systems.
- You can download, compile, and update code and optimize computing environments to improve CFD performance in a parallel computing environment.
- You must monitor the preparation, installation, and execution errors of CFD code in the Linux environment.
- You must work with project managers, supporters, contractors and other APL staff to establish and maintain relationships and provide valuable feedback.
Qualifications:
- Have an MS (or Bachelor's degree plus 3 years of relevant work experience) degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related science.
- Have sound knowledge of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Have relevant experience in one or more of the following areas: computational fluid dynamics, grid generation, hypersonic flows, chemical reactions, solid rocket engines, nozzle flow, wind tunnel testing, and aerodynamic model development.
- Provide knowledge and experience in software management, grid engines, queueing and parallel processing.
- Have knowledge and experience with Linux clusters and scripting in Linux environments.
- Have excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
- They are a highly dynamic, self-starter with good organizational and scheduling abilities and a history of success in a team environment.
- Am willing to travel (less than 10%) both internationally and nationally to meet with sponsors and contractors.
- Are in a position to obtain Interim Secret Level Security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain Secret Level clearance. If chosen, you will be subject to a government security clearance review and must comply with the criteria for access to classified information. Requirements for eligibility include U.S. citizenship.
- Have a Degree in engineering, physics, or similar experience.
- Have experience using commercial and in-house codes in structured and unstructured grid generation and flow solvers.
- Have experience of CFD, Overflow, Cart3D, Pointwise, MIME, Overgrid, Tecplot and Fieldview.
- Have demonstrated the ability to successfully lead a team of technical staff to solve complex problems.
- Now, carry a security clearance for Secret, Top Secret and TS / SCI.
