Job Summary:
Plan, organize, guide, monitor and coordinate the activities of workers engaged in the propagation, cultivation and harvesting of horticultural specialties, such as trees, shrubs and other plants. Agriculture Manager to manage the orchard and develop the newly acquired adjacent land. Responsibilities:
Plan, organize, guide, monitor and coordinate the activities of workers engaged in the propagation, cultivation and harvesting of horticultural specialties, such as trees, shrubs and other plants. Agriculture Manager to manage the orchard and develop the newly acquired adjacent land. Responsibilities:
- The day-to-day and seasonal production tasks of our olive trees include planting, pruning, training, mowing, cultivation, harvesting, milling, etc.
- Evaluate weather and soil conditions, develop plans and procedures and manage issues such as changes in fertilizers, herbicides or spraying and irrigation techniques
- Regular pest, disease and plant health monitoring to develop pest and nutrient management plans.
- Operation to manage and document and analyze crop yields and production Planting and harvesting schedules
- Coordinated machinery and plant transport logistics, including communications with trucking companies, truck drivers and milling equipment
- Manage harvesting crew (seasonal hires)
- Keep accurate crop records Manage maintenance and repairs for all farm equipment and tools.
- Maintenance of company vehicles and resources
- Track and make recommendations for field operations, such as irrigation needs and harvesting
- The on-site greenhouse for olive and Douglas Fir seedlings
Required Experience:
- At least 3 years of production experience (preferable) on a similar olive or grape orchard.
- With one year of leadership experience.
- Farm equipment knowledge for tractors and tractor-drawn implements
- Running and servicing of all large farm equipment including drones
- Maintenance and general farm repair
- Fertilizer family Knowledge of irrigation system running
- General field / ranch skills: fence repair, culvert and road maintenance
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in agriculture / production Ability to handle a physically demanding job-should be able to lift at least 40 lbs.
- Have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Food Science, Farming, Nutritional Science, Management or related fields
- Working knowledge of large-scale farm equipment (e.g. tractor, manure spreader, dancer)·
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working on a large-scale farm.
- Strong oral and written communication skills (English) and mathematical skills are required.
- Windows-based computer experience, familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel·
- Great management abilities with the ability to manage multiple goals· Experience with cGMP performance processes and manufacturing operations· Ability to provide input, teach others and communicate effectively.
