Job Summary:
The Inspector shall be responsible for conducting visual and non-destructive inspections in compliance with the API and ASME requirements for tubes, pressure vessels, poles, heaters, heaters, storage tanks, boilers and any other essential process equipment for the purpose of recommending or authorizing repairs or certifying compliance. This position shall inform the Operations Supervisor and/or Dispatcher without delay of any issues, contradictions or other notable incidents.
Responsibilities:
The Inspector shall be responsible for conducting visual and non-destructive inspections in compliance with the API and ASME requirements for tubes, pressure vessels, poles, heaters, heaters, storage tanks, boilers and any other essential process equipment for the purpose of recommending or authorizing repairs or certifying compliance. This position shall inform the Operations Supervisor and/or Dispatcher without delay of any issues, contradictions or other notable incidents.
Responsibilities:
- Check and assess the serviceability of tubes, containers, frames, heaters, heaters, storage tanks, boilers and any other essential process equipment Inspect all non-pressure retaining components including, but not limited to, bases, fireboxes, burners, shelves, dampers, structural components, tank seals, spring hangers, etc.
- Comply with all relevant Maintenance, Regulations and Standards, Refinery, Terminal and/or Vessel Specifications, including Health and Measurement Standards Ensure that all equipment is considered acceptable for continued service.
- Determine the life of the equipment, set the test and inspection frequency and predict the renewal Assist in the development of a regular monitoring schedule for process pipes and equipment and carry out inspections.
- Maintain communication with Maintenance, Operations and Engineering and Contractors on a variety of issues, including inspection / code requirements, equipment condition, workmanship that does not meet requirements, and recommendations for repair of equipment or poor workmanship
- Ensure integrity, safety and reliability of pressure equipment by assessing the effects of corrosion or other deteriorate.
- Conduct base surveys to identify signs of subsidence and differential settlement Maintain and review structural integrity records Correct guidelines for shutdown of machinery and tube due to corrosion and serviceability. Upload all maintenance advice to the EAM in order to properly prepare and schedule an outage or a turnaround.
- Be familiar with PS AIM or other inspection server for inspection information and inspection frequency.
- Gather, analyze field inspection data for: measurement of wall thickness, pipe and inspection program equipment, and identify / report corrective action as part of the inspection program.
- Maintain a thorough and accurate record of the inspection and maintenance of each part of the pressure equipment and pipes in their unit assignment Ensure certifications are maintained Ensure that all inspection schedules are completed on time.
- When, for some reason, inspections are postponed, provide all inspection data and information to the Inspection Supervisor with a view to the deferral of the inspection.
- Assign the inspection period for pressure equipment (vessels, columns, valves, exchangers, etc.) to monitor the condition of this equipment using correct techniques and methods to identify potential damage mechanisms.
- Create and implement equipment maintenance techniques, special focus initiatives such as Retroactive PMI, Wet H2S, CUI and HTHA, setting intervals and recommending corrosion rates.
- Create and maintain an internal, external, on-stream and corrosion maintenance schedule for all equipment Address corrosion problems or operational incidents that could have adverse effects on equipment with appropriate staff
- Collaborate with the Operations and Maintenance Departments to establish the most feasible and cost-effective means of maintaining the equipment.
- Investigate and report all failures of stress equipment to identify the cause or suspected cause and prevent potential failures.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma / GED
- Five (5) years of experience with refining process structures, petrochemical or pressure vessels, fixed equipment and tube systems or two (2) years of experience in industrial inspection position
- Evidence of knowledge of corrosion processes
- Extensive working knowledge of all ASME, ANSI, API & NBIC codes
- Proof of knowledge of specifications and principles of non-destructive analysis
- Must have a minimum of one (1) API certification API 653 Overground Storage Tank Inspector, API 570 Piping Inspector, and API 510 Pressure Vessel Inspector.
- Basic understanding of metallurgy, corrosion, welding processes etc.
- Proven knowledge of basic math
- Strong knowledge of process safety programs including mechanical integrity, incident investigation, process hazard analysis, change management, process development
- Comprehension and working knowledge of refinery / petrochemical maintenance procedures including safety procedures involving repair and maintenance of equipment
- Ability to comply with confidentiality
- Excellent communication skills, including the capacity to produce and deliver presentations.
- Computer and Microsoft Office software know-how
- Good social and organizational abilities
- Ability to interact efficiently and positively with all levels of company workers.
- Must be able to read and draw isometric patterns
- Must be able to work in a plant environment involving scaling, confined spaces, etc.
- Will pass the drug test and background the history
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field.
- Five (5) years of experience in industrial inspection role Advanced understanding of oil refining processes (FCC, Reforming, Hydrotherapy, Raw Distillation, Extraction, Sour Water / Gas Services)
- Certification of the National Board of Boilers & Pressure Vessels (NBIC)
