Job Summary:
Sorting by production requirements. If required, carry out a variety of tests, developed, to assess performance and to determine the grade level of the product from the production line, to determine whether the product meets USDA and company requirements. Follows Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) (including guidelines on allergen regulation and food safety), BDG regulations and safety practices when conducting these activities. (Remunerated on the basis of research being performed)
Responsibilities:
- Manually extract damaged or foreign material from the moving belt while ensuring the quality of the product according to customer requirements.
- Required to meet the production standards, schedules and deadlines set by the production standards and by the Department Manager.
- As a temporary assigned QC inspector: required to draw random samples from the MPL or Meat Whse. Production lines are designed to perform a variety of predetermined tests. Ensure that product quality standards are clearly defined and that the quality attributes of the finished product are specified. Performs a final test for foreign material, rejects, hidden damage and insects, type of logging and amount found. Conducts moisture analysis and documents test results on data sheets; enters results in the Corporate Quality Assurance Computer Program (SPC) and notifies correct supervision where the test results do not reach the criteria as necessary. Follow HAACP procedures and audit procedures.
- Collect samples for the individual customer's in-line and outgoing Lab Testing Stock.
- Calibrates and assists in the maintenance of inspection tools.
- Other duties and responsibilities as required or assigned by the Head of Department or Shift Lead.
- The Diploma of High School is required as a QC Inspector.
- Previous experience in quality control is desirable.
- Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and more.
- Preferred experience with the use of common inspection tools (i.e. sieves, scales, etc.).
- Interpersonal and Communication: as a sorter: must be able to communicate with the MFG Department Manager and Shift Head of Sorting Room.
- As a QC Inspector: needs to have strong interpersonal and communication skills to work with others.
- The ability to pass correct instructions from Manager or Head to other Inspectors and Inventory Control A is mandatory.
- Technical and Analytical: as a sorter: must be able to meet the standards.
- As a QC inspector, basic computer and math skills are required.
- Must have the ability to give priority to work effectively and reliably in a timely and efficient manner.
- Must be able to perform a range of grade analyzes and follow prescribed protocols as illustrated in a number of operating procedures.
- Stamina is required for extended periods of standing or sitting with intense visual concentration and attention to detail. Good eye-hand coordination and depth of vision are needed to sort it out. Must be able to lift 25 lbs on its own or 50 lbs with assistance. Must be willing to work in a fast paced environment in order to obtain accurate test results in a timely manner. Overtime and weekend work, as required by production, is a requirement for the performance of this position.
- Working in high-level noise areas from production machines; likely working at different levels if testing is needed in other areas (grader space, etc.).
