Job Summary:

The Auxiliary Operator is a technician who has completed a training or apprenticeship program and has gained technical skills and experience and is capable of the proper operation and maintenance of the power plant. Operates, manages, troubleshoots and restores mechanical equipment, electrical equipment and appliances. This equipment includes, but is not limited to, gas turbine, steam turbine, turbines, steam heat recovery system, air compressors, water treatment equipment, engines, pumps, diesel generators and other auxiliary equipment. This strictly abides by all safety and environmental laws and legislation for the benefit of workers and public safety.

Responsibilities:

Supports lead operators in the proper functioning of a combined cycle generating facility with minimal guidance or assistance.
Competently manages and maintains all factory facilities.
Capable of running plant equipment locally via PLC panel interfaces.
Communicates plant issues and keeps Lead Operators fully informed of plant operations, unusual conditions and defective equipment.
This fully supports the use of a computerized maintenance management system (Maximo) by showing the system's ability to use it, entering data that is compatible with other workers and committed to the maintenance philosophy of the facility.
Strictly track equipment problems on Maximo job requests and records repair actions taken on work order forms.
Manage corrective maintenance and preventive maintenance orders in a timely and high quality manner.
Shows honesty in recording the use and re-orderingof spare parts.
Reads meters, gauges, and automatic data recording devices such as equipment temperature, equipment movement, operating hours, pressure, and fluid levels to check operating conditions.
Visually inspects and listens to equipment at periodic intervals to detect malfunctions or to detect the need for repair, adjustment or lubrication.
Provides detailed status of plant conditions to other operators at shift
Conduct a study of water chemistry. Ensure the water chemistry is within proper control ranges.
Make adjustments to the water chemistry, if appropriate, by regulating the level of chemical feed and/or blowing.
Work with plant chemist, operator and water treatment provider to properly monitor the overall chemistry program.
Operate a demineralized water system in accordance with OEM and plant procedures and monitor demineralized water to ensure that quality is within acceptable limits.
Use facility operating procedures and equipment technical manuals to operate, maintain and repair facilities and ensure that equipment operates within acceptable parameters.
Maintains equipment by tightening fittings, replacing valve packaging, gaskets, valves, gauges, etc. and by washing, repairing, oiling and lubricating other components and equipment as needed.
Opens and closes valves as necessary for proper system operation and mechanical insulation. Opens and closes circuit breakers as necessary for proper system operation and electrical insulation.
Performs a capital project and/or major program responsibilities as assigned to Plant Management.
Develops and operates various tools and resources for fixing parts and equipment.
Operates welding and cutting equipment and completes metal manufacturing projects.
Diagnosis causes mechanical malfunction or failure of the operating equipment.
Repair, disassemble and test defective parts together with lubricating and cleaning materials.
Uses the fluke meter and other test equipment to calibrate and repair equipment and electrical circuits.
Assist in troubleshooting and testing programmable logic controllers, plant control systems and supply control systems, including card replacement and wiring terminations.
Assist in the repair of equipment and plant equipment.
Identify and fix CEMS concerns. Assist in the calibration and adjustment of the gas bottle.
Reads, understands and complies with all regulatory procedures and safety programs of the facility.
Follow all environmental permits for the plant.
Work shift hours, overtime and irregular hours as required to support efficient operation of the facility.
From time to time, working hours will be determined on a short notice basis on the basis of plant requirements.
Conducts general housekeeping and continuous improvement of the appearance of the building, including painting projects, as needed.
Maintains the cleanliness of all plant and control room areas.

Skills / Technical experience:

Instrumentation and electrical equipment is required.
Demonstrates experience of all facets of power plant operations.
Demonstrates the ability to make competent decisions in situations of emergency.
Show good verbal and written communication skills.
Experience Combine Cycle Power Plant Experience Preferred.
The experience of the power industry desired.

Qualifications:

A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Associates Degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college to a technical school; or two to four years of related experience and/or training; or a combination of preferred experience and/or education.
