Responsibilities:
- Inspects planes, maintenance procedures, air navigation aids, air traffic control and communications equipment.
- Determines whether the equipment has been repaired or serviced lately and whether the repairs are satisfactory.
- Verify the competence, training and training of people operating and repairing aircraft.
- Grant or refuse airworthiness certificates on the basis of results.
- Test the machinery, devices, and systems.
- Inspect landing gear, tires, and fuselage exteriors, wings, and engines for evidence of damage or corrosion.
- Identify damage or faults in grounded aircraft.
- Develop and administer regulations and safety standards relating to the operation of aircraft.
- Evaluate training programs, equipment and facilities for airmen.
- Evaluate the organizational aspects of air carrier services and related commercial and aviation activities for the adequacy of facilities, equipment, procedures and overall management to ensure the safe operation of aircraft.
- Determine whether the electronics and repair facilities are sufficient.
- Determine the adequacy of the plan and schedule for regular updates and revisions.
- Allow or refer to rework or quality review materials based on results.
- Perform the requisite mathematical calculations to determine if goods are within tolerances.
- Follow the proper protocols to execute in-line scans and measurements checks.
- Use a range of fixed and variable measuring instruments, including adjustable measuring devices, such as calipers, micrometers, and so on.·
- Recognize any need for and document for repair or replacement of equipment used to perform the work as needed.
- Perform routine service throughout the assigned area, following specified procedures and written instructions, such as the inspector's checklist for maintenance and ensure operation of the equipment.
- Review documents as applicable to the determination of acceptance or non-acceptance.
- Report Performance issues or concerns to the Quality Manager and follow-up to ensure corrective action is / will be taken.
- Maintains a history of inspections and maintains a list of defects, works with other departments to ensure compliance with the standards and encourage the acceptance of components.
- May be assigned to carry out tasks, not specifically specified, within the scope and skill level of this job description in support of the objectives of the department and to develop the skills of the individual.
- Participate in team development, including initiatives for quality and continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or one year to two years of related experience and/or training; or comparable combination of education and experience.
- Able to understand, read and write in English.
- Ability to sit and stand for longer periods of time. It may require bending, reaching, kneeling. Must be in a position to lift 3-50 lbs.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to calculate the rate, the ratio, and the percent.
- Measuring equipment, such as calipers and micrometers, must be capable of being used precisely.
- Ability to apply common sense comprehension to the execution of orders in written, oral or diagram form.
- Capacity to deal with problems involving a number of specific variables in structured situations.
- Windows, Microsoft Word, it's excellent.
- Ability to understand and interpret revision manuals, catalogs of interchangeable parts, service bulletins and airworthiness directives.
